Clara's Spin Team | Recommended for Elementary and Middle School
Clara Barton knew how get her message across. She was a master of 19th century PR. Students will examine primary source documents to discover the methods of successful marketing, then create their own mini-media blitz (with the materials on hand) to share Barton’s work.

Clara Barton’s story is full of questions of leadership, responsibility, and human rights. Discuss how these issues affected lives then, and continue to change our world today.

If it weren’t for Richard Lyon’s excellent historical sleuthing, Clara Barton’s Missing Soldiers Office would be completely forgotten. Try your hand at some detective work—investigate artifacts and primary source documents to see what you can uncover about the past.

Things To Know …

  • Group tours must be arranged a minimum of two weeks in advance.
  • Groups must be 10 people or more to qualify for the group rates.
  • Groups must give at least 24 hours notice of cancellation in order to get refund.
  • There is a fee for group tours, however we try to work within groups budgets.
  • The group leader and the bus driver will receive free admission, as will one chaperone for every ten students. More chaperones are welcome, but will have to pay admission.
