The Return of SawBones
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine and Flying Dog Brewery have collaborated once again to bring back a history lover’s favorite: SawBones. This ginger table beer was named in honor of Civil War surgeons and inspired by 19th century brews. This limited release has not been available since the summer of 2016.
Here’s to those who had to cut off legs,
And often prescribed drinking from kegs.
Civil War surgeons were cutting edge,
Not the butchers many allege.
Many medical innovations they did hone,
So raise a glass to those Sawbones!
“The return of SawBones has been highly anticipated,” said David Price, Executive Director of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Flying Dog Brewery and bring back this very popular beer. This project allows us to bring the pub back to public history. We look forward to SawBones being released annually with special programming being done all across Maryland.” Six-packs and cases of SawBones are available in the museum dispensary store and throughout stores across Maryland.
For a limited time, the museum is offering a special SawBones themed deal only available in the museum dispensary store. For just $45 you get a six-pack of SawBones, a bottle opener, pint glass, T-shirt, and a one year museum membership. All valued over $80.
