Plan Your Visit | Antietam
The Pry House Field Hospital Museum tells the story of a home that became a headquarters and hospital during the bloodiest single day in American history: September 17, 1862. As the Battle of Antietam raged within view of the Pry family’s house, decisions were made on this historic property that shaped the lives of soldiers, surgeons, and civilians.
Visit the Pry House on Antietam National Battlefield and discover how emergency medicine evolved during the Civil War and the impact on the soldiers.
11:00am – 5:00pm
Open Fri – Sun from June – October 2019.
Open weekends in May and from November to December 1.
All season on the second floor of the Pry House will feature “Bringing the War to Our Doorsteps,” a temporary installation re-staging the exhibition of Alexander Gardner’s photographs taken at Antietam in September 1862. It is a rare chance for visitors to experience what viewers did more than 155 years ago as the Civil War raged, and is included with museum admission.
