George “Buck” Delaplaine III

Born and raised in Frederick, George “Buck” Delaplaine is a reknowned advocate for arts and culture in his community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Delaplaine Foundation, and supports the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum.
Mr. Delaplaine has a personal connection to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. His grandmother was born in the building when it was home to a furniture store with a residence on the third floor. The Delaplaine family have support the Museum since its inception in the early 1990s. The Bettie Delaplaine Research Center bears his mother’s name.
Currently, Mr. Delaplaine works as the Operations Manager for Maryland Paper Company. He is responsible for the design, maintenance, safety, and general operation of a recycled paper manufacturing facility. Previously, he was a Project Engineer at TAMKO Asphalt Products.
