Director of Education John Lustrea will talk with author Dr. Kenneth Noe about his latest book The Howling Storm: Weather, Climate, and the American Civil War. Noe will discuss how weather and climate shaped the outcomes of battles and campaigns and may have contributed to the defeat of the Confederacy.
Dr. Kenneth Noe is a native Virginian and the author of several books and scholarly articles focusing on the Civil War and Appalachian history. He is a frequent speaker on the Civil War roundtable circuit and participates in the Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lectureship Program. He was a Pulitzer Prize entrant and his latest book was a finalist for the prestigious Lincoln Prize.
