Experience history come to life at the Pry House during a special living history weekend on June 13 and 14.
POSTPONED – On a date TBD at the Pry House Field Hospital Museum, enjoy a special living history weekend. Members of the 87th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment Company C will be encamped at the Pry House all weekend detailing the life of an infantryman during the Civil War. Dressed in period garb, the 87th PA will give visitors a sense of what it was like to walk into a Civil War army camp.
Access to the 87th PA’s programming is included with admission to the Pry House Field Hospital Museum.
In addition to the 87th PA at the Pry House, the South Mountain Artillery Group will be encamped at the historic Newcomer House – less than half a mile away. Visitors to the area will have the chance to see Civil War infantry and artillery by visiting both locations.
The 87th PA, Co. C participates in several NPS and other educational events every year. They have provided programming at Gettysburg National Military Park, Monocacy National Battlefield, the National Civil War Museum, the Gettysburg Heritage Center, and many more for nearly a decade. The unit takes great pride in teaching about the lives of soldiers during the Civil War, from drills, equipment, clothing, food, artillery munitions, and medical information.
