Join us at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine on Tuesday, November 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a special Veterans Day “Members Only” event. Enjoy some light refreshments and an exclusive first look at three rare artifacts the Museum hopes to add to its collection.
- A very rare Civil War hospital flag, identified to the 19th Massachusetts Infantry.
- A rare early model wicker hospital steward’s knapsack, full of its medical contents.
- A “surgeon’s companion,” or hip pack, identified to a Massachusetts Volunteer Militia unit, also containing many of its original medicine containers.

Executive Director, David Price, and Director of Interpretation, Dana B. Shoaf, will discuss the history behind these remarkable new pieces and share details about upcoming Museum upgrades.

Help Us Add These Artifacts To The Museum Collection!
Two generous Museum supporters have donated $25,000 of the $100,000 needed for us to purchase and display these special items. But we’re not there yet! We must still raise $75,000 to acquire, conserve, and design engaging new exhibits to share them with the world.
A contribution of $100, $250, or $500 or more will help ensure that these rare pieces of history are preserved and shared with the public for generations to come.
