Quest to Care – An Escape Room at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine (NMCWM) and Surelocked In Escape Games have partnered to create a 30-minute escape room experience at the NMCWM. From October 1 through December 30, 2020, players can help Clara Barton in her quest to care for as many wounded as possible at the Battle of Antietam. In addition to the escape room, players get admission to the NMCWM galleries and to an exclusive exhibit about Clara Barton – the Angel of the Battlefield.
Advanced tickets are $15 per person or $17 at the door. Kids 12 and under are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Walk-ins will be accommodated based on availability. Museum Members and Frederick Country Public School students and faculty get 50% off their bookings. Groups can be no more than 8 people.
The escape room is available to play by appointment 7 days a week, and for walk-ins Friday – Sunday depending on availability. Available times are as follows:
Mon – Thurs 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Fri – Sat 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Sun 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

“This escape room is a unique and fun way to teach children of all ages about a true American heroine. Clara Barton’s compassion and efforts to care for those in need are inspirational,” states NMCWM Executive Director David Price. “It’s a great way to learn history in a hands-on adventure.”
“With students facing such an uncertain academic year, we wanted to create something special for them to do!” says Chris Sparks, owner of Surelocked In Escape Games. “Being a product of Frederick County schools – I think it’s important to develop learning alternatives that connect with students.”
