Updating and Renaming the Popular “Recruitment” Exhibit Gallery

We want to honor one of the first people that believed in the museum and helped bring it into existence.  Our 2019 Annual Appeal is in honor of Bob Gearinger.

Bob Gearinger

Bob Gearinger

Executive Director David Price praised Robert Gearinger: “Bob was a key person in establishing the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, Maryland.  He served as President of the Board, was a founding member and helped secure an initial investment of one million dollars from the Judge Edward S. Delaplaine Charitable Trust and a million-dollar grant from the State of Maryland.” Bob has spent decades building inroads in the community, recruiting passionate advocates, and raising funds critical to our success.

Out of gratitude for Bob’s amazing work, we are proud to announce our popular “Recruitment” exhibit gallery will be updated and re-named for our own museum recruiter. The Robert Gearinger Recruitment Gallery will feature an interactive kiosk with brand-new content. Visitors will be able to view recruitment posters from around the nation, North and South, to connect communities around the nation to the Civil War units that were drummed up there.

One of our most successful display panels, “Would You Become a Soldier?” has proven so popular that it is starting to show signs of wear. Your contribution will fund a sturdy replacement to allow our audiences to continue to enjoy this unique exhibit.

Best of all, your generous donations to honor Bob Gearinger will be matched up to $5,000. With your contribution we can continue to recruit even more patrons and share the insightful, moving, and important story of Civil War Medicine.
