Confederate Camp Cooking
Written by Patricia B. Mitchell
The purpose of this book is to explore the lifestyle of the Southern soldier, with special emphasis on the food he ate (“such as it was, and what there was of it”). We will look at his rations, and his culinary improvisations. Authentic Civil War – era recipes will be of great interest to amateur historians and cooking enthusiasts, but most especially to Confederate reenactors who may wish to use some of the “receipts” at Civil War encampments.
