The National Museum of Civil War Medicine includes three sites, our main museum in Frederick, Maryland, the Pry House Field Hospital Museum at Antietam National Battlefield, Sharpsburg, Maryland, and soon to open, Clara Barton's Missing Soldiers Office, at 437 7th Street, Washington DC. Each site contains exhibits and programs that connect to each other through common focus on Civil War Medicine.  The Frederick "Carty" site focuses on the development of medicine during the Civil War and the innovations that affect all of us today.  The Pry House Field Hospital Museum focuses on the Battle of Antietam's role in Dr. Jonathan Letterman's development of emergency evacuation and medicine that is the basis of combat and emergency medicine today.  Clara Barton's Missing Soldiers Office tells the story of Barton's development of humanitarian relief, eventually leading to the creation of the American Red Cross.

But that is not all.  the NMCWM also operates the Letterman Institute, a professional development training center, and the NMCWM Press.  For information about these entities, just click on their name at the top of the page and they will take you to the appropriate page.
