Faces of the Wounded – Downtown Frederick Walking Tour
September 1 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm EDT| Pay-what-you-please
Behind every casualty is a story. Discover the stories of wounded soldiers in Frederick.
National Museum of Civil War Medicine historian John Lustrea will lead a special historic walking tour through Downtown Frederick on the First Saturday in September at 3 PM. John will be highlighting individual stories from several of Frederick’s Civil War hospitals.
The vastness of the Civil War’s death toll can make modern day audiences forget how personal and human the conflict was. The Faces of the Wounded walking tour puts a human face on Civil War casualties. The tour tells the incredible story of several wounded soldiers treated in Frederick. Hearing their tales of suffering and triumph in their own words at the place where it happened provides a truly unique experience.
This will be a “pay-what-you-please” program. Early registration is highly encouraged. The walking tour will meet in the museum’s lobby area.
