Before experiencing Antietam Battlefield’s annual Grand Illumination; Visit the exhibits at Pry House and Thrashing Barn. Walk the same halls as General McClellan and President Lincoln. Come to the Pry House and see what the holiday traditions where during the time of the American Civil War. Have some cookies, play games, drink hot drinks, see and make decorations, and sit and have a chat with our very own Civil War Santa.
The NMCWM is one of a dozen historical and cultural venues participating in this holiday celebration. The Museum has extended hours and is open to the public for free. Living historians will be on-site portraying surgeons of the Union and Confederate Armies, talking about their life-saving work in the Civil War. Docents will be on hand to talk with visitors throughout the galleries and live musicians will be playing period Christmas and other Civil War Era tunes, Children can make 19th century crafts to take home and we may even have a visit from our Civil War Santa Claus!
Join members of the Frederick County Civil War Roundtable for their Annual Christmas Party, refreshments will be served, please bring a snack or dessert to share.
